Halloween Outreach Ideas

Ok, if you’re like me and you’re not into having a Halloween Alternative event to protect all the non-Christians in the area from allowing their children to engage in the pagan ritual of dressing up like Buzz Lightyear or Cinderella, then maybe you’d be interested in some other ideas.
1. Halloween Photo Booth: Create a festive halloween scene with some hay bails, pumpkins, and a plain backdrop (If you have pipe & drape from your Sunday morning set up it works well). Take pictures and ask people for their name and email address. Let them know that you will post the pictures to a photo sharing site like Flickr.com and you will email them the link. This gives you names and email addresses for a mailing list.
2. Halloween Give-A-Way: Have church members give out invite cards along with the candy.
3. Halloween Hot Dogs: In strategic neighborhoods have church members get together and cook hot dogs to give away along with a soda, water, or cup of lemonade.
What else are you doing to reach your community on Halloween or other holidays?

We have a very small church plant in Atlanta, Ga. We did something similar to option No. 2, which I think was really great. On really short notice, we put together 50 bags of candy and toys left over from a missions project last summer. We stapled a church marketing card on the front of the bags and handed them out as we introduced ourselves to parents of little ghouls, goblins, ballerinas and bumblebees in our target neighborhood.
In hindsight, we should’ve put together more bags. The 50 we made were gone in 20 minutes!
