Where to Get Videos (Links)

Searching for Videos

  • When looking for a video, type in key words that relate to your topic. Use the thesaurus feature in Word to come up with other key words. If you are looking for a video about “tithing”, also search giving, offering, donations, finances, spending, etc.
  • If you know of a movie clip you want, try multiple ways of describing it in your search engine. For instance, say you are looking for a Saturday Night Live skit called “Don’t Buy Stuff You Can’t Afford” which is a funny video about how to keep from going in debt. You could search for various combinations of these terms Saturday Night Live, SNL, debt, or Steve Martin, money, etc.  Keep trying until you find it. Also try looking on different search engines listed below.  If you want to watch this clip you can see it at the bottom of this post.
  • Download videos for future use. There’s no guarantee it will be there next time you want to find it. File space, legal consderations, and other factors cause people to take videos off the internet every day. Get it while you can.
  • When you find a good video, look for the link that shows you other videos uploaded by that person.
  • Keep in mind that you can edit out things you don’t want in a video with Windows Movie Maker or another video editor.

Websites to Get You Started

Articles and Ideas on Video Use

  • MovieMinistry.com (Ideas for messages, good articles like From Mars Hill to the Movies Part I & II)

Media Converter

  • MediaConverter.org (Converts most videos to any format you want and then allows you to download it.)
  • There are other media coverters out there, but this is the only one I have used. Google around for them. Beware of spy-ware and sites that try to sell you stuff. You’d be better off buying a video converting sotware like Alive Video Converter than paying for the use of an online media converting site.
