Whiteboard Sessions

Whiteboard Sessions

If you’re like me you try to schedule one or two conferences a year.  There’s only so much you can learn from books and blogs. At some point during the year you need to physically immerse yourself in new ideas. That’s what a good conference allows me to do.

I’m excited that one of the best conferences I’ve ever been to is coming to Virginia Beach this year. Two years ago I drove about 8 hours round trip to to to Whiteboard Sessions (Wibo). It’s my kind of conference. There’s no fillers, no bells and whistles, just content. Eight, influential leaders will have 30 minutes each to present one, compelling idea. This could be a biblical conviction, a proven strategy, a recent epiphany, or even a raw, untested theory. The presenters are asked not to bring a canned presentation, but rather to treat Whiteboard as an extended, senior-level staff meeting.

The line up is a diverse who’s-who in the Church world: Al Mohler, Perry Noble, Tony Morgan, Jon Tyson Jonathan Falwell, Eric Mason, and James McDonald. For me it’s the perfect blend of speakers. Half of the guys I know of and follow their blogs or listen to their sermons. The other half are guys I’m interested in getting to know more.

Oh, and Carlos Whittaker is leading worship. If you don’t now Carlos, just watch the video below and you’ll know all you need to know.

As for Wibo, you can check it out here: www.TheWhiteboardSessions.com.  The eariler you register, the cheaper it is. I’m taking our whole team there on Friday, May 21, 2010. Ben Arment who is organizing the event is a former church planter. So even though this isn’t a “church planting” conference. The guy behind it comes from a church planting background.
